Installation and setup
How do I install the mod?
See the installation guide, which also includes a video tutorial.
How do I create a new profile for the Slovak Map?
- Create a new profile in ETS2.
- Before starting the game, click Change Game Module.
- Select
slovak.mbdinstead ofeurope.mbd.
Which game version is the mod for?
The currently supported game version is always listed on the Download page. A new map release follows each new game version.
Does the map work on Mac or Linux?
Yes, but use the manual .scs installation. The slovakia_setup.exe installer is for Windows only. The steps are in the guide.
The mod does not work or does not show up in the game. What should I do?
- Check that you are using the correct game version.
- Make sure you selected the
slovak.mbdgame module when creating the profile. - Check that the files are in
Documents/Euro Truck Simulator 2/mod. - If that does not help, write to us at ets2slovakia@gmail.com or on Discord.
Compatibility
Can the map be combined with other maps, such as ProMods?
No. SVK MAP is a standalone map with its own slovak.mbd game module and it cannot be combined with other map mods.
Do other mods work with the map?
Yes. Mods such as trucks, trailers, paintjobs, sounds or traffic work without any issues. The limitation applies to other maps only.
Can I play in Convoy multiplayer?
Yes. The map works in the official Convoy multiplayer — everyone just needs the same version of the map and the game.
Does the map work on TruckersMP?
No. TruckersMP only supports ProMods and its official add-ons.
Do I need any DLC?
No. The map does not require any paid SCS DLC. This was not always the case — versions from 2019–2020 did require DLC.
Is Austria part of the map?
Yes, you get it together with Slovakia; it is not a separate add-on. Its further development is currently paused.
Versions and support
Is the map free?
Yes. The Classic version is free and always will be. The Extended version is a thank-you for those who supported the project.
What is the difference between the Classic and Extended versions?
The Extended version adds roughly 30 more cities and 1200 km of roads. You can compare both on the Download page.
How do I get access to the Extended version?
By supporting the project via PayPal or a bank transfer. We recommend a bank transfer — there are no transaction fees. Once the payment is confirmed, we send you the link by e-mail.
How long does it take to receive access?
Usually a few hours, and no later than 48 hours. If it has not arrived by then, write to us at ets2slovakia@gmail.com.
Do I have to contribute again for each new version?
It depends on what the release brings. For patches, for example when the game version changes, there is no need to contribute again — the password stays the same and you keep using your original link. Every further release with new map content requires a contribution; you receive a new link and password.
Do I also get older versions of the map?
Yes. Supporters keep access to earlier releases — for example when an older game version suits you better, you need compatibility with other mods, or you simply do not want to disturb a game in progress.
How large is the download?
Roughly 1.7 GB, the same for both versions.
About the project
What makes this map different?
Slovakia Map by kapo944 is a standalone map — it runs on its own slovak.mbd module, it does not replace or modify the base Europe map, and it needs no DLC at all. The base game is enough.
We have been building it since September 2013 at 1:5 scale, based on real roads, junctions, road signs and landmarks. That is also why it cannot be combined with other maps — it is a world of its own, not an add-on to an existing one.
Other mods with similar names, made by other authors, work differently and usually require the base map or DLC.
What scale is the map built at?
At 1:5, while the base game uses 1:19. Distances are therefore four times greater.
How long has the map existed and who works on it?
Development began in the spring of 2013 and the first version was released on 9 September 2013. The project is made by a team in their free time — see About us.
Where can I see what is finished?
The Development Progress page shows coverage by region and the history of every release.
I found a bug. Where can I report it?
Write to us on Discord or at ets2slovakia@gmail.com. A screenshot and the location on the map help us a lot.
